On-site count, barcode and RFID tagging
Fixed asset count and tagging company in Egypt
Need a company to physically count and tag your fixed assets? DataSync is a specialised team in Egypt that comes to your sites, finds every asset, applies a barcode or RFID label, photographs it, records its data in our app, and reconciles the count with your asset register. You end up with a clean, audit-ready fixed asset register and a platform to track assets and depreciation afterwards.
What exactly do we do?
Counting and tagging with DataSync is not a head count. It is a complete process that turns the assets on the floor into a register you can rely on for accounting, audit and insurance.
- Physical count of every fixed asset: furniture, IT equipment, machinery, vehicles and building installations.
- A barcode or RFID label with a unique number on every asset, in a material suited to the place (office, plant, warehouse, outdoor).
- Data for every asset: class, description, brand, model, serial number, condition, location, floor, room and custodian.
- A photo of every asset linked to its record.
- Reconciliation of the physical count with your asset register or books, with the differences listed: found but not recorded, recorded but not found, and moved.
- Delivery of the final register and an online platform to track assets and depreciation after the count.

How we work: five steps
The same steps on every project, from a small office to a plant with several sites.
- 01
Site survey and plan
We visit the site, map buildings, floors and rooms, agree the numbering scheme and label type, and set the duration and team size.
- 02
Tagging: a label on every asset
The tagging team walks every room and applies a barcode or RFID label on each asset, in a fixed and visible spot. Labels are pre-printed with unique numbers and resist scratches and humidity.
- 03
Scanning and data capture in the app
The scanning team scans the label with the DataSync app and photographs the asset; AI proposes the class, description, brand, model and serial number from the photo. The operator checks, corrects and submits the record with its exact location.
- 04
Review and reconciliation with your register
The supervisor reconciles tagged against scanned assets in every room, then each line is reviewed again and the count is matched to your asset register to allocate values and depreciation to the real assets. With no register, we deliver the assets without values or bring in a certified valuer.
- 05
Delivery
You receive the final register in Excel, the asset photos, the differences report, and a login to the DataSync platform to track assets and run monthly depreciation.
What you receive at the end
- A complete fixed asset register in Excel: tag number, class, description, brand, model, serial number, condition, location, floor, room, custodian and photo.
- A barcode or RFID label on every asset in the company.
- A reconciliation report against your old register or books, with differences and recommendations.
- Values and depreciation allocated to the real assets when you have a register.
- An account on the DataSync platform to track assets, transfer them between sites and run depreciation monthly.
- An illustrated asset catalogue (optional) and support after delivery.
When do you need a fixed asset count and tagging?
- The first asset register of the company, or a register that no longer matches reality.
- Before an external, tax or internal audit.
- When opening new branches or moving premises.
- Before migrating to a new ERP (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Odoo) so you start with correct data.
- For insurance, a merger or acquisition, or an incoming investor.
- When operations move assets between sites without recording it.
Barcode or RFID?
Both give every asset a unique number. They differ in how they are read and what they cost; we choose with you based on the assets and the site.

Barcode label
- Lowest cost, right for offices and branches.
- Read one at a time with a phone or a scanner.
- Suited to furniture, office equipment and small machines.

RFID label
- Read from a distance without line of sight: a whole room in minutes.
- Types for metal, hard surfaces and outdoor use.
- Suited to plants, warehouses and assets that move a lot.
Duration and cost
Cost depends on the number of assets, the number of sites and the distance between them, the label type (barcode or RFID), and whether you need reconciliation with an old register and valuation.
As a guide: a team of two operators counts and tags about a thousand assets in one working week at a single site. Several sites are scheduled in parallel.

Why DataSync?
A specialised field team
Operators and supervisors trained for counting and tagging, in uniform with ID cards, working in Cairo, Alexandria and every governorate of Egypt.
An AI-assisted counting app
The app photographs the asset and proposes its data, which cuts human error and raises the number of assets per day. Every line is reviewed twice before delivery.
An accounting background
DataSync's founder is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). We know what the auditor and the finance manager need from an asset register, beyond the count itself.
A platform after the count
The count is not the end. The DataSync platform lets you track assets, transfer them and run depreciation monthly yourself, with ERP integration.
Frequently asked questions about fixed asset counting and tagging
What is the difference between counting and tagging fixed assets?
Counting is finding the assets that physically exist and confirming their condition and location. Tagging is giving every asset a unique number on a barcode or RFID label so it is identified instantly in any future count. DataSync does both in one visit.
Do you work outside Cairo?
Yes. We work in every governorate of Egypt and schedule distant and multiple sites in parallel to shorten the duration.
What if my existing asset register is inaccurate?
That is the most common case. We count reality first, then reconcile it with the old register and report the differences: found but not recorded, recorded but not found, and moved. Values are then allocated to the real assets.
What if I have no register or no values at all?
You receive a full register with every asset's data and photo without values, or we bring in a certified valuer to set values if you need them for the accounts or insurance.
How long does a count take?
It depends on the number of assets and sites. As a rule of thumb, a team of two counts and tags about a thousand assets in one working week at a single site.
How durable are the labels?
We use industrial labels that resist scratches, humidity and heat, with special types for metal and outdoor use, placed in a fixed spot on each asset so the label is not covered.
Does the work disrupt staff?
No. The team works room by room in coordination with the person responsible for each area, without staff leaving their desks. Plants and warehouses are scheduled around shifts.
Do you also value the assets?
When you have a register we allocate values and depreciation to the real assets. If you need a market valuation, or a valuation for insurance or sale, we provide it with a certified valuer.
What happens after delivery?
You get an account on the DataSync platform to track assets, transfer them between sites and run depreciation monthly. We provide support after delivery and periodic counts if you want them.
